Embed the Macadamia Index
One script tag puts a live Mac Daily production chart on your own site. It reads a static, cached JSON file — never our newsroom — so it keeps rendering whether or not we do.
The snippet
<div data-macdaily-embed data-series="production-au"></div> <script async src="https://mac-daily.com/embed/v1/widget.js"></script>
data-series names the series. The list of what exists is at /embed/v1/index.json; production series are production-{iso}, lower-case, e.g. production-za. Put as many on a page as you like — the script finds every element with the attribute.
Versioning, and the twelve-month promise
The version is in the path. A change that would break an existing embed ships under a new one — /embed/v2/ — and v1 keeps being served, unmodified, for at least twelve months afterwards. You do not have to watch a changelog. If you embed it and rebuild your site once a year, it will still work.
What it renders, and what you may not remove
Every chart carries a “Data: Mac Daily” line linking to the specific Index page the figures come from, and every plotted point shows its measurement basis, moisture content and source organisation. That is a condition of use, not a default — a macadamia tonnage without its basis is not data, and it is not data on your page either.
The attribution is drawn by the script into the same container as the chart and carries no class or id of its own, so it cannot be hidden with CSS without hiding the chart. Please do not try; ask us instead if it does not fit.
Performance
The script loads async and never blocks your page. Script plus first payload is held under 50 KB gzipped, checked on every one of our builds — it runs on your visitors’ phones, not ours.
The data itself
The JSON is public and unauthenticated. There is no key to request and nothing to sign up for. It is published under CC BY 4.0, the same licence as our datasets, so you may use it outside the widget too — with attribution.
A series omits any year where our sources disagree beyond tolerance, where a figure has been superseded by a revision, or where the source did not state a measurement basis. We would rather show you less than show you a number we cannot stand behind.
