Embrapa’s macadamia reference covers pests and beneficial species
InsetoNutWeb brings together knowledge for identifying insects and mites associated with macadamia cultivation, alongside information on exotic pests reported abroad. Its scope is broader than a list of threats to Brazilian orchards.

Embrapa’s public project description says the work examined entomofauna associated with macadamia cultivation in Dois Córregos, São Paulo, considered the importance of pollination and investigated exotic insects affecting production in other countries. The project ran from September 2019 to September 2024 under a cooperation agreement between Embrapa and Queen Nut, with funding from both partners.
An August 2025 report by Revista Cultivar, attributed to Embrapa, describes a system that covers both pests and natural enemies. That distinction matters when using a reference catalogue: the presence of an insect or mite does not by itself establish that it is damaging a crop. The report and the project page share the same originating authority; they are not independent confirmations of field conditions.
The public project page describes the software as an organized collection of knowledge supporting correct species identification, training, monitoring and integrated management. It also distinguishes observations associated with Brazilian cultivation from information on exotic pests reported overseas. A foreign pest entry is not evidence that the species is present in a Brazilian orchard.
For growers, the useful starting point is therefore identification and context. The reference can support a monitoring programme, but this article does not establish a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation or a measured reduction in crop losses. It does not describe the catalogue as a live map of current infestations.
This archive correction broadens the earlier pest-only description and binds it to the accessible primary project page and the attributed August 2025 report. Embrapa’s news page retains a 12 August 2025 date header, but its full news text is currently withheld under the site’s election-period notice. No unavailable body text is used as evidence. The original publication history is preserved.

Accessible primary project description and attributed August 2025 report support a broader reference scope, with one originating Embrapa authority and no current infestation or treatment-effect claim. Visible news header date is retained separately from unavailable news body. Original publication history and media 258 remain preserved.
Previously: The archive described the reference as only insect pests threatening orchards and omitted beneficial species, mites and the distinction between local observations and exotic pest knowledge.
